Email Account Setup

There are 2 email versions ie, Microsoft Outlook & Outlook Express.

Microsoft Outlook

This tutorial has been designed to help you set up your email account that is provided through your hosting with EARTHWEB in Microsoft Outlook.

Step 1. Have your details handy

You should have these details ready (given by us) to set up your email address in Microsoft Outlook. These should be:

  • the email address - 'you@yourdomain.co.za'
  • the password - 'password'
  • the Incoming Mail Server ( mail.yourdomain.co.za )
  • Outgoing Mail Server(dependant on your Internet Service Provider eg. if you are using Vodacom to connect to the internet, then smtp.vodacom.co.za or MWEB then smtp.mweb.co.za etc.Please find out the SMTP server settings from YOUR Internet Service Provider.

Step 2. Create a new mail account in Microsoft Outlook

  • In the main menu, go to Tools > E-mail Accounts

  • the E-mail Accounts Wizard will appear - click Add a new e-mail account, then click Next

  • Choose POP3 as the server type, then click Next

Step 3. Enter your account details

  • Enter your name, email address, user name (this must be your entire email address), password, incoming mail server and outgoing mail server.
  • click More Settings

  • A new window will pop up which allows you to enter a name for your account, your organisation and a reply address - usually your email address.

  • Click OK - the window will close, then click Next in the Email Accounts window

Step 4. Complete the setup Wizard

  • You will be taken to a Congratulations window, click Finish
  • your email address should now be set up and working

Step 5. Test the email account

To test that the email account is working correctly, click the Send/Receive button on the Microsoft Outlook toolbar. There should be no errors in sending or receiving. Send some test email messages (yes, you can email yourself!) to make sure all is working as it should.

Step 6. Troubleshooting

First make sure that you have entered all the information exactly as provided. To edit an existing email account, go to Tools > E-mail Accounts > View or change existing email accounts. Highlight the email account you wish to change, and click Change. The window in Step 3 will appear allowing you to check your settings and make changes if necessary.

 

If you receive any errors when trying to send or receive emails, please take note of the error you are receiving and contact us.

Email Account Setup - Outlook Express

This tutorial has been designed to help you set up your email account that is provided through your hosting with EARTHWEB in Outlook Express.

You should have been provided with a number of details that you need to know to set up your email address in Outlook Express. These should be:

  • the email address - 'you@yourdomain.com'
  • the password - 'password'
  • the Incoming Mail Server
  • Outgoing Mail Server ( dependant on your Internet Service Provider eg. if you are using Vodacom to cinema tycoon connect to the internet, then smtp.vodacom.co.za or MWEB then smtp.mweb.co.za etc.Please find out the SMTP server settings from YOUR Internet Service Provider.)

Step 2. Create a new mail account in Outlook Express

  • In the main menu, go to Tools > Accounts
  • the Internet Accounts dialog box will appear - there may already be some email accounts set up here, such as ones that come with your ISP
  • in the top right, click Add > Mail

  • the Internet Connection Wizard will appear
  • enter your name
  • click Next

  • enter your full email address that has been provided
  • click Next

  • leave the Incoming Mail Server as a POP3 server
  • enter the Incoming Mail Server name as the one you have been provided, usually 'mail.yourdomain.co.za'
  • enter the Outgoing Mail Server as the one you have been provided, usually 'mail.yourdomain.co.za'
  • click Next

Enter your mailserver settings

  • enter your username (this must be your ENTIRE email address )
  • enter your password
  • tick Remember password
  • click Next

  • click Finish
  • your email address should now be set up and working

Step 3. Test the email account

To test that the email account is working correctly, click the Send and Receive button on the Outlook Express toolbar.

If you receive any errors when trying to send or receive emails, please take note of the error you are receiving and contact us.
